Art
Art plays an important part in pupil’s cultural, social and aesthetic development. Our aim is to teach Art in an exciting and creative way which ensures all pupils are engaged, inspired and challenged as they journey through the school.
We encourage children to have an appreciation and a love of Art through the study of a range of artists, craft makers, architects, designers and sculptors from different eras. To develop and master skills in painting, sketching, drawing and sculpting using a variety of media as well as observing the differences and similarities through a range of genres.
By developing inquisitive minds, we encourage our pupils to be knowledgeable and discerning critics of their work and the work of others leading them to develop skills of reviewing, refining, improving and evaluating their own pieces of Art.
Through their knowledge of Art, pupils will be able to make links in all disciplines and to access the Arts through a range of experiences, leading to all pupils to know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our communities.
