St Paul's Catholic Primary School

Alive in Jesus

Tuesday 14th July

Zoom at 12 today!

9.00 - Grammar

The word cohesion means glue - linking the paragraphs together to make your writing flow from paragraph to paragraph.

We have thought about this in your writing this year but possibly haven't used the terminology.

Question 3 is asking for other words (synonyms) that you could use instead of the word at the top or words within that theme. E.g. addition - also, list - then or next, etc.

Have a go at the sheet below and check your answers when you're done - no cheating!

9.30 - English

The Red Tree by Shaun Tan

We have already read a couple of stories by Shaun Tan this year, including The Lost Thing.

Here is another one of his wonderfully illustrated stories - enjoy!

Here is our poem of the day:

10.30 - Break

11.00 - Maths

LO: To be able to multiply fractions.

  1. Round to the nearest 10:        405       3276        12,342
  2. Round to the nearest 100:     394       4057        31,238
  3. Round to the nearest 1000:   689      1540         11,234

Main lesson:

Remember, when we multiply fraction our denominator stays the same.

Multiply the numerator and convert the answer.

9.30 - English

LO: To be able to plan and write a summary.

Complete the planning sheet below choosing a book of your choice as your theme.

Just complete the plan today as we will start writing tomorrow.

Make sure you choose a book you know well or a series of books you know well.

If you can download this document it might allow you to type out your plan - Have a go!

Here is our poem of the day:

10.30 - Break

11.00 - Maths

LO: To be able to translate shapes from one place to another.

  1. Convert these fractions and simplify them where possible: 17/4      14/3      15/9
  2. 25% of £300
  3. 20% of 450
  4. £486.25 x 7

Main lesson:

Moving a shape's position is easy if we know our co-ordinates.

We have to move each individual point of the shape by following the instructions or pattern.

You will always be given a starting point so if you can work out how that point has moved, the rest will move in the same way.

12.00 - Lunch

1.00 - Geography

LO: To be able to describe the economy of Ghana in Africa.

Economy is all to do with trade and money that the country has.

To find countries of Africa on the equator, just look back to the first slide or type into google to work it out if you don't have an atlas.

2.00 - Art challenge. Day 30. Something spotty.
