URGENT – PLEASE READ
Dear parents/carers,
I am writing to inform you about an incident that has been brought to our
attention by a local secondary school today.
A Year 8 boy was approached by a car in the Gildas Avenue area at around
7:40am this morning. The car had two men inside who wound down their
windows and told the boy to get into their vehicle. The boy immediately ran to
get help.
While the child was not physically harmed, and I do not wish to cause a panic,
I consider it appropriate to make parents/carers aware of this, in order that we
are all extra vigilant when travelling to and from school. The secondary
school reports that they have had a number of similar incidents in the
proximity of their school during the last month.
It is recommended that all parents/carers remind their child of 'stranger
danger' and how to keep themselves safe if they are out alone. Class
teachers have also spoken to children about stranger danger this afternoon.
We are informed that the incident has been reported to Police.
Yours sincerely,
N.Damms
