August 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you are all safe and well and have been able to enjoy some of the summer break.

We just wanted to send some reminders for the start of the school term but to also offer some reassurances.  There are many things being said in the news and on social media and some of it sounds quite scary and may be giving you cause for concern.  We want to tell you about what we are doing at St. Paul’s.

We will not be testing children for COVID-19 in school.  We will not be isolating or quarantining children.  We will have a designated isolation space but this is simply a place we will take a child to sit and wait while waiting for parents to collect if they are showing signs of COVID-19.  This is the same as what we would have done pre-COVID if a child was sick and awaiting collection.

As it stands, we will not be asking children to wear masks or face coverings in school, as per government guidance.  However, as you may have seen, government guidance changes frequently and therefore school actions may need to change accordingly.  We will keep you informed about any changes as they occur.

Children will continue to eat lunch in their classrooms with their designated Lunchtime Supervisor.  Reception and Year 1 will eat in the hall as we feel it is important the younger children still have the opportunity to develop this important skill.

We understand that many of you will have concerns about sending your child back but attendance is compulsory from September and therefore all children are expected back in school.   The government have stated that they will reinstate all actions relating to attendance from September.  We have worked hard to ensure that school is a safe environment for pupils and staff to return to.

A few other key reminders:

  • Staggered start and end times – please be punctual!
  • Siblings to ALL be dropped off and collected at the earliest child’s timings (see document below for further information about this)
  • One-way system for drop offs/collections
  • One person to drop off/collect
  • Parents/carers will not be permitted into the school building but we wish to keep the lines of communication open via phone, email, text, school website.

We hope this alleviates any concerns you may have had.  Don’t forget to go onto the school website for additional information regarding COVID-19 and our September start.

We look forward to seeing you all next week!

 Stay safe and God bless,

Mrs N Damms                   Mrs H Williams

September 2020 Opening

Please see below the start and end times of the school day for each class in September.  Please also note the location of drop-off and collection points for each class.  There will still be systems in place for September (see below).  Thank you all so much for your support with these so far this year – it has greatly helped with a smooth start and end to the day.

  • We will still have a one-way system in place across the school site, which all families will need to adhere to. Entrance through main gate and exit through playground gate only.
  • Siblings will arrive and leave together at the earliest and latest times based on your children’s year groups
    • g. if you have a child in Y1 and a child in Y4, you will drop both children at 8.40am and collect both children at 3.30pm. This is because Y1 start at 9am and Y4 start at 8.40am so 8.40am is the earliest time out of the two and therefore the time you drop both children.  Year 1 home time is 3.30pm and Y4 is 3.10pm, so you select the latest collection time, which is 3.30pm and that is when you collect both children.
  • All families need to be punctual – no early or late for drop off/collections. As we will have many more children in school, we need everyone to keep to their timings please. Our fining policy will be in place for late collections.
  • Parents will still not be permitted to enter the school building (this includes EYFS) and must continue with correspondence via telephone and email
