Parent Letter 11-05-20

Dear parents,
Following the announcement by Boris Johnson yesterday evening regarding provisional steps to lift the Lockdown imposed due to Coronavirus, we would like to assure you that the leaders of Lumen Christi continue to work closely together to ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff within our school communities.
As reiterated by the Prime Minister, any proposed changes are dependent on continued monitoring and scientific evidence to confirm that the safe thresholds are being met.
Since Lockdown began the schools in Lumen Christi have been offering provision for the children of key workers both during term time and during the Easter holidays. We have also been considering how we could accommodate stringent measures to minimize any risks to pupils and staff, once more children do begin to return to school.
We have already begun planning for and seeking the best options for meeting the potential challenges below:
• Ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to facilitate social distancing and stringent hygiene procedures.
• Providing lunches for those in attendance at school in a safe way.
• Continuing to provide support for those not at school.
• Recognising and supporting the most vulnerable children
• Offering support to ensure the mental health and well-being of all in our community
• Supporting those who may have suffered loss or bereavement of any kind
• Continuing to deliver a meaningful educational experience to those who are in school as well as those who may remain at home.
• Ensuring all staff are enabled to engage fully in their dedicated work and supported in their own personal circumstances.
• Adapting the curriculum to make sure that the impact on children of lost time is minimised.
Once we receive further clarification from the Department for Education we will share with you our understanding of the impact on schools and more details of how we will proceed with caution to allow more of our children and young people to return to their classrooms.
You may have many questions that we are not yet in position to answer. We do thank you for your full understanding and cooperation and ask for your ongoing patience and support.
