Year 6!
Miss Kaur (Class Teacher) and Mrs Craddock (LSA)
Our Class Saint is Maximilian Kolbe
![]()
Maximilian Kolbe was born in Poland in 1894, who had a devotion to Our Lady. He became Franciscan priest and during WW11, he was arrested by the Nazis and sent to a concentration camp. Maximilian died in Auschwitz because he wanted to save another prisoner.
How can we be like Saint Maximilian?
We think about St Maximilian Kolbe and how he was a missionary. He travelled the world and informed people of the life of Mary and Jesus. St Maximilian Kolbe formed the Knight of the Immaculata, which later developed a magazine. He used what he had learned about Mary to help others around him, which was a challenge for him considering that he was persecuted for his beliefs.
Our values and virtues for this half term are Intentional and Prophetic
In Year 6, we will encourage children to be intentional and consider how they can plan their actions and consider choosing to live how God wants us to. We will encourage them to realise that every action we make has an impact on other people and the world around us. By focusing on the value prophetic, we will encourage children to spread the word of God through how they live their lives to impact positively on others.
Our Catholic Social Teaching for this half term is Options for the Poor and Vulnerable
“You are not making a gift of your possessions to the poor person. You are handing over to them what is theirs.”
Saint Ambrose (340-397 AD)
Our Catholic Social Teaching for this term is about options for the poor and vulnerable.
The options for the poor and vulnerable reminds us of how God’s love for the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world is to be considered as important, and that God’s love is universal; he does not take the side of those who are powerful, wealthy or oppressive, but He loves those who are humble and meek in spirit, and also, economically and materially poor. We will look at how it is important to understand this teaching so that our own actions are influenced and shaped by Scripture to do what is right as God’s word guides us.
RE - Spring 2
Lent

children will also explore the Church’s teaching on the
forgiveness and God through the Sacrament of
Reconciliation
Holy Week
In this unit the children will learn about the passion of
