Virtues: Grateful and Generous
Catholic Social Teaching: Dignity of work
All work is important and valuable. When people do their jobs or help others, they are serving God. In a Catholic school, this shows the dignity of work because it helps children understand that everyone’s work matters, whether it is learning, helping at home, or doing a job. When people work hard and do their best, they are respecting themselves and others and following God’s way.
Our Class saint is St Bernadette.
Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette in Lourdes 18 times!
Our Lady asked St Bernadette to drink from the dirty water in the stream. St Bernadette did so without questioning and the next day came back to find the water was clean. It was later found that the water had miraculous healing powers making Lourdes a place of pilgrimage for many people.
Our Lady told St Bernadette that she wanted a chapel to be built in Lourdes. St Bernadette was strong to her faith even when others questioned her. Due to her love for God and loyalty to her faith she convinced others to build the chapel which is now visited by millions of people each year.
We are going to use Bernadette example for us this year.
