Friday 10th July

1. PE with Joe Wicks 9am

 2. Spellings

Ask an adult to read out your words from your lists for your spelling tests and mark them.

Phonics – Choose a mixture of 10 words. You need 8 or above to be correct to pass.

Year 2 Spelling Rules – Choose a mixture of 10 words. You need 8 or above to be correct to pass.

Common Exception Words – You must do all of the words and get them all correct to pass.

If you passed, tick it off on your overview list and go onto the next list.

If you didn’t pass, keep practising the words on the list and try again next Friday.

I gave each child a booklet with an overview list on the front and all the spelling lists in order for phonics, Y2 Spelling Rules and Common Exception Words.

As soon as they have passed all the Common Exception Word lists, they go onto the Year 2 Spelling Rule lists.

When they have finished all the Phonics lists, they get a second list of Year 2 Spelling Rules each week.

Good luck Year 2!

3. Handwriting

Practise each join three times. Make sure that the letters are the right size and on the right lines. Remember that the joining lines are very important. The letters mustn’t touch.

Revision

Ask an adult to mark it. Here are the answers.

Main Lesson

Our unit is about measuring mass, volume and temperature.

All the sheets that you need are inside the envelope that you collected from school last week.

Today, you are going to continue to measure volume in millilitres.

This is the first time that you have used the standard unit of millilitres (ml).

You will be reading the scales like you did for grams and kilograms.

Your task is to complete pages 102, 103 and 104 on your big A3 photocopied sheets.

6. Art

We have looked at some landscapes by Monet and Van Gough.

Today, we are going to look at some landscapes by Jean Metzinger and draw one too.

Next week, we are going to use the same picture as a design to make a mosaic collage.

7. Music

This week we learn about how to colour music and what ‘Timbre’ means.
